FarmConnect(CEO Mu-Hyun Kim, FarmConnect) announced that it was selected for the Ministry of Science and ICT's R&D Special Zone Promotion Project in 2023 and successfully completed the development of the AI-based 'ConnectE' solution service by conducting the 'Integrated Smart Farm Prediction Management System Based on Real-Time Pest Detection Technology' research and development project.

This achievement is an advanced system of the Edge-based Segmentation for Pests and Diseases in Crops (ESPD) technology transferred from the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). The technology detects pests and diseases in real time and guarantees high inference accuracy and fast processing speed. In particular, it has increased accessibility for farmers as it allows immediate inference on smartphones.

FarmConnect's 'ConnectE' solution can detect various pests and diseases, such as leaf mold, chlorotic leaf curl virus, American leaf miner pest, and powdery mildew, based on tomato crops. In addition, it analyzes environmental data collected every minute to identify and predict the cause of pests and diseases, and provides specialized cultivation consulting reports so that everyone from beginners to experts can easily utilize them.

Pests and diseases are factors that have a fatal impact on production in facility cultivation, and FarmConnect’s system helps systematically manage each farm through regional pest management and notification functions. In addition, it provides integrated smart farm management solutions such as AI-based bee activity data management, real-time environment recommendations, pest progression prediction, and precision control decision analysis, thereby supporting farmers to realize preventive farming.

It plans to continue to invest in AI technology development and continue to play a leading role in leading the digital transformation of agriculture.
